Thirty-three students working with faculty from A+D and Architecture recently completed and installed a seating environment for the SOFA Connect competition, which was held November 3-6 at Navy Pier in Chicago.
After the competition the project was installed in Temple Hoyne Buell Hall, where it will remain through the end of the semester.
Please join us at Blicharski Atrium in TBH, this Wednesday, November 16, 4:30-6:00 p.m. for a reception to celebrate with students, faculty and staff involved in the project.
SOFA Connect is a competition to design seating environments, with selected entries created by six international art and design university departments, incorporating seating, lighting, and objects. All work is created by university students under the guidance of their faculty advisors.
This was the first time that UIUC entered the SOFA Connect competition. We were one of six universities chosen to realize our design on-site, along with Pratt Institute, University of Cincinnati, Purdue University, University of California, Davis, and Illinois Institute of Technology.
