Admissions to the University of Illinois School of Art + Design falls into 4 categories: Freshman, Transfer, Intercollege Transfer, and Graduate. Freshman

All freshman Art and Design students apply to one of the following majors in the College of Fine and Applied Arts (FAA): Art Education, Art History, Crafts: Metal, Graphic Design, Industrial Design, New Media, Painting, Photography, or Sculpture. Undecided majors apply to the Art Foundation curriculum. All major's first-year experience will include courses in drawing, 2D, 3D, and 4D practices. Undecided majors (Art Foundation) will declare their Art + Design major March 1 of their first year of study.

Transfer

Transfers from another University or College apply to one of the School of Art + Design's B.F.A. degree programs: Art Education, Art History, Crafts: Metal, Graphic Design, Industrial Design, New Media, Painting, Photography, or Sculpture. Those who have not completed the requisite Art Foundation equivalent courses, will be considered for entry to the Art Foundation curriculum.

Intercollege Transfer

Intercollege transfer is the process of transferring from one College to another within the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. Students apply to one of the following majors in the College of Fine and Applied Arts (FAA): Art Education, Art History, Crafts: Metal, Graphic Design, Industrial Design, New Media, Painting, Photography, or Sculpture. Undecided majors apply to the Art Foundation curriculum. All major's first-year experience will include courses in drawing, 2D, 3D, and 4D practices. Graduate

The Graduate Program of the School of Art + Design at the University of Illinois is committed to training artists, designers, educators, critics, curators, and historians of visual art and culture at the highest professional levels. Applicants apply directly to one of the School of Arts + Design's degree programs.
